A Cry in the Night by Mary Higgins Clark
A Cry in the Night was an excellent book filled with suspense. Throughout the book, the author gave readers certain clues about the characters. As I read the book, I attempted to figure out the plot. Before I reached the end of the book, I had an idea of what might happen, but I didn't know for sure how the book was going to end.
The suspense continued to build throughout the story. This was one book written by Mary Higgins Clark that was very difficult to put down once I started reading.
The book was well-written without a lot of profanity except for a couple of times. It was also a quick read because I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Erich and Jenny.
It was about a woman named Jenny, who worked in a New York art gallery. One day, the gallery featured Erich Krueger's work. Jenny and Erich started dating and were married within a month. Jenny had two girls named Beth and Tina. He moved Jenny and the girls to his farm in Minnesota. The suspense really started to build during this time.
Jenny began to sense something wrong in the way Erich treated her. She didn't understand why he started changing his attitude toward her. He started to be real possessive of her, and he wouldn't let her go anywhere. She also couldn't contact any of her friends in New York, or anyone in Minnesota because Erich was very jealous of her. He wanted her for himself. One reason Erich was attracted to her was her appearance. She looked almost exactly like his mother.
At one point in the story Jenny wanted to move back to New York. She didn't want Erich to control her life and to keep her from contacting her friends. She wanted to live a normal life.
Now, you'll have to read the book to find out if Jenny moved back to New York so she could be with her friends, or if she decided to stay with Erich since they were married. At this point, tension continued to increase.
I recommend this book very highly to anyone who enjoys reading suspense books. However, once you start reading it, you probably won't want to put it down until you reach the end.
I like Mary Higgins Clark's writing style and the way the suspense continues to build until the end. Her books have plot-driven stories, which means the plot is what moves the story along. This type of book is for anyone who wants to read for pleasure. Her books are intriguing and the way the plot moves the story, you will keep reading until the last page.
